About Reflex Auto Design
Reflex Auto Design was born as a result of the Leggett families automotive heritage. It all began with the forming of Ideal Motors Coachworks in 1948, who took on a star apprentice in the form of Christian, Matt and Jonny’s dad, John, in 1965, at the tender age of 17. By 1980, he’d become a partner in the business, and in 1986 he became the proud owner alongside wife Christine. It quickly gained a reputation as one of the best Rolls Royce and Aston Martin restoration specialists in the country, built on John’s eye for detail and exacting standards.
Step by step
With a pedigree like that, it was obvious that when his 3 sons, Christian, Matt and Jonny joined in 1986, 1987 and 1995 respectively, we wouldn’t be churning out quick rattle-can resprays. With dad still involved, mum Christine working alongside Jonny’s wife Hayley and Georgia (Christian's Daughter) in the office, and oldest brother Christian acting as Manager, this remains a family business through and through. Reflex Auto Design (RAD) was formed in 2000, by Matt and Jonny, after people had seen the cars they’d built for themselves. Impressed by the standard of our work, which really is second to none, people asked us to build their projects for them. The brothers took over Ideal, amalgamating it with Reflex in 2014, making this a true family business.
As you can see, Reflex Auto Design aren't a company that rest on our laurels, with big plans for the future and some special builds along the way, new staff additions, active social media accounts and a modern workshop and office facilities.
Building a show vehicle over the years with the team at Reflex has given me a privileged viewpoint - I see behind the scenes due to the amount of time I've spent with them all, talking through ideas and working through some of the trickier aspects of the build -
Awesome work I got recommended R.A.D through people heavily into the VW scene.. I'd had a bad experience through another bodyshop which left my Pearl Black T5 with major orange peel, overspray everywhere and the wrong variant of LC9X... From the initial meet with Christian he filled me with confidence -
I can see why so many car enthusiast would use them. Customer service is amazing. Ask them anything and you wouldn't just get the answer, you would get good advice too. Big motor companies could take a few leaves out of their book.! Would I use them again?? You bet. -
The ONLY people I will have painting my pride and joy excellent service from the first call to collection of the finished product. I've used them a number of times now and will continue to make the 200 mile trip to carry on using them in the future. -
